  This place is a joke! I found a dog there, which they said was a stray Akita mix, with all his shots, that no one had showed interest in during his 1 month stay. I waited 24 hours before going back to adopt him, at which time they said his prior owner just "happened" to come in, after I left the day, prior. She left her info for me, which they gave to me. They also gave me a paper with Stockton Animal Shelter's number, saying I could get a copy of his shots there. I live in Sacramento, so I called them the following day. They had NO record of my dog, as all. When I called Lodi shelter back, they said the prior owner told them he had his shots. And, if they DID give him his shots, it would only be Distemper-Parvo & I can get them anywhere for less than $25! WTF? A little irresponsible to adopt out dogs, much less keep them in kennels, without having their shots. Then LIE about it? So, I call prior owner & find out he wasn't technically a stray. Original owner had to rehome to 2nd owner. Second owner's elderly parents accidentally let the dog out & he ran, (big, strong, door bolter dog), Lodi picked him up & 2nd owner came to bail him out. Dog bolted AGAIN, Lodi picked him up & was charging 2nd owner over $200 to bail him again. Original owner came to plead 2nd owner's case, to no avail (she was on the chip info). She came repeatedly for the month the dog was there, asking them to lower the fees, checking on the dog. She did NOT go in the day I was there, they already had her info. She was devastated when she found he had been adopted out to me for $15! Although, she's happy he came to be trained to be my service dog & is doing great. I think Lodi animal shelter doesn't care about the animals, or they wouldn't have insisted on over $200 from both owners, but sold him to me for $15. They would've given him shots, especially being in the shelter for a month! They wouldn't have lied to me & leaf me to believe he was a stray with his shots, either. It's a money making system & they couldn't extort money from previous owners, so "got rid of him" cheap, to avoid the cost of taking good care of him. They should be closed down, or investigated, at least! The ONLY good thing I can say is that I found my new best friend there.

  Old Betty running the place was incredibly rude and didn't seem to care much at all about the little cat we were just trying to find a place for. Why be in this business if your care for animals clocks out alongside you?

  We adopted "Jack" who is a 10 month old Pit-mix, super cute and such a baby. We re-named him Baxter. We had a very pleasant experience with the Shelter, they were very helpful and friendly.
